Hi 'Mom',

Yes, because one of the ingredients used is castor oil and castor oil is a detoxifying oil. My teen daughter did go through an "ugly" phase where she broke out at first, but I just encouraged her and made her persevere through it and her skin began to clear up. I don't remember a time line but I believe results will vary from person-to-person depending on varying factors such as diet, level of stress in their life, and one key factor...proper elimination. The skin is not really (supposed to be) a main channel of elimination for the body but it often becomes one if the bodies usual channels (digestive system first and foremost, liver, kidneys, etc.) are not functioning in tip-top condition. So, those are things to check with your daughter as well that may make a major difference in her results. Look into her diet and if she's eating more junk foods than she is fresh, raw fruits and veggies/nuts and seeds...have her up the intake of those foods and lessen the quantities of those others. If she is not "going" at least 2-3 times a day (one meal in/one meal out) then look into some bowel management for her. And make sure she's drinking LOTS of water to help her body flush toxins out.

Also, if she's wearing make up (mainly cover-up types of make up), encourage her to stop or either greatly minimize it as her skin goes through the healing period because that will only worsen things. This is what I had to have my daughter do and now she goes out without makeup and doesn't feel self-conscious about it as she once did.

I know I'm really giving you a lot here...but I could go on and on...if you would like to discuss it more, feel free to contact me privately via email: cherie@herspecialhair.com

Best wishes to you and your daughter!

My tween has been suffering w/ acne for 2yrs now...after trying every over the counter products, even pricey dermatologist, nothing has really worked. Thru trial and error, I now know natural is the only way. Is there an ugly stage when the oils began to draw everything to the surface, will she suffer a little morew/ whitehead, pustles, etc to clearer results?

Thank You

This recipe may also be altered by the addition of a few drops of pure essential oil such as Lavender or another pure essential oil. You will get wonderful skin and aromatherapy benefits from the addition of essential oils.
